In November Troy came to me with a concern his stomach looked weird. I am an RN so naturally I felt his spleen. It felt 3 times bigger than normal. Troy saw his doctor immediately. After an ultrasound and CT the call came from his physician, "I am referring you to an oncologist."
The official diagnosis came January 26th, 2016 "You have stage IV Mantel cell lymphoma. A rare form of lymphoma.
Your heart sinks to a depth indescribable when you hear, "There is no cure for MCL at this time." I have been asked the difficult question, how long do you have? With chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant we hope and pray to reach remission for as long as possible.
August 30th, 2016 our stem cell journey will begin at the Nebraska Medical Center. With myself as his primary caregiver I will be traveling back and forth every week to Nebraska while managing the responsibilities of 2 young children and our home. So, working full time as a hospice nurse is not an option. Our burdens are heavy. The medical bills are accumulating and with the monthly cost to incorporate holistic therapies, every day expenses for our blended family are quickly becoming very difficult to meet.
Although our faith is our rock and we tell ourselves often "All is well" creating this site took a great deal of humility. We are blessed beyond measure from the out pouring of prayers and meals provided by our friends within our church ward and the love and support from family members.
